Expressions of Interest open for Cobbett Road Hub & Library building

Southampton City Council is encouraging community, not-for-profit, voluntary and faith organisations in Southampton to consider taking over the running of Cobbett Road Hub & Library with a renewed community offer

Cobbett Road Hub & Library buildingAs a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the previous community partner made the difficult decision to withdraw from the provision of a range of community and library offers from 1 February 2021. Since then, the building has been used by a partner temporarily, and kept under good repair ready for a new partner looking to provide a community offer in Bitterne Park.

Southampton City Council are now looking for organisations and partners who have the vision and experience to respond to the needs of the local community, to apply for a long-term arrangement, based from Cobbett Road.

Councillor Spiros Vassiliou, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Heritage comments:

“Cobbett Road Hub & Library has been a pillar of the community throughout its 80-year history. We are committed to this significant building being an asset to the area, and this is a great opportunity for any community groups or organisations who may be looking to expand, or move to a premises in a prime location within Bitterne Park.”

Interested organisations are to submit an expression of interest by Tuesday 5 April 2022. More information can be found on the procurement portal under the opportunities tab, using the unique reference: REQ/1000041.
