The consultation will run for eight weeks and is an opportunity for residents and businesses to have their say on the council's approach to tackling the challenge of climate change, the principles it will be guided by and how it can support our communities on their own net zero journey.

Last summer's record temperatures are part of a global picture, telling us that climate change is already having a profound impact on our environment and the way we live. We need to make changes now to reduce the risks that climate change presents. That includes taking all practical steps to reduce the carbon emissions that are driving the problem. Then, capturing any remaining emissions that are otherwise difficult to eliminate. This way we hope to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
