Motions passed in Council
A motion is a statement voted on at Full Council that, if passed, commits the council to certain action. For example, if a motion was passed saying that the council had to commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by a certain amount, then it would have to do so. However, motions can be reviewed and changed, overtaken by events and cannot bind anyone other than the council.
