Southampton Children’s Services are hosting a contextualised safeguarding conference focused on reducing risk outside the home.

Outline of the day

We will review the learning from the Risk Outside the Home pilot and outline our multi-agency approach to the next steps.

Description

Our Keynote speaker Molly Manister from Carlene Firmin’s Contextual Safeguarding team at Durham University, will be sharing the learning from their DfE Planning for Safety project and Risk Outside the Home approaches. We will share our vision for championing a new way of reducing the risk for young people and how the wider multi-agency approach required to safeguard young people outside of their homes will be developed.

There will be a number of workshops and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Outcomes

By the end of the session delegates will have:

  • Been updated on the Risk Outside the Home pilot and learning
  • Have contributed to discussions and reflections on how this learning can be applied within the settings they work
  • Have an understanding of how to further participate in developing and embedding this approach
  • Gain a greater awareness of local services and initiatives responding to risks outside the home
