Don’t flush money down the drain

Many people will be starting the new year counting the cost of Christmas, so January is the perfect time to think about ways to make your money go further.

If you’re struggling to pay rising utility bills, Southern Water could help you cut the cost of your water bill. If you have a water meter you can apply for a free water saving home visit. An expert from Southern Water will visit you at home to fit free water-saving devices such as changing your toilet flush to dual flush, tap aerators and water-efficient showerheads, and advise you on how to make simple changes that may reduce your water costs to further help you save money.

Southern Water will be tracking your water use before and after the visit. Free checking and fixing of leaky or dripping toilets is also included within the home visits, which could save you up to 300 litres per day per toilet.

For more information check online or email Southern Water to book your free home visit.

As well as free home visits, Southern Water also offers a free interactive online water-saving tool called GetWaterFit to help you save water, save money and raise cash for charity at the same time. Simply enter your postcode and answer simple questions about how much water your household uses and any appliances you own. GetWaterFit then creates a personalised dashboard, with tailored challenges to help you save. You can track your progress and receive ‘coins’ for completing water-saving challenges, which you can then donate to local schools and WaterAid. Visit GetWaterFit for details and advice about how you can reduce your water usage and save money on your bills.
