Junior Neighbourhood Wardens gear up for Easter fun

Our team of Junior Neighbourhood Wardens are in for an ‘eggciting’ Easter as they look forward to a range of fun and educational activities.

The Junior Neighbourhood Warden scheme – which is free to join for 7-12 year olds – aims to promote what it is to be a good citizen through regular fun activities and community projects from litter picks and clean up days to sports sessions and trips out.

This spring, the young wardens have a range of exciting events to enjoy.

There will be an Easter-themed treasure hunt on Monday 25 April at Fairfax Court in Thornhill. This is just the latest activity as part of an intergeneration programme which is encouraging young and old to have fun together and learn from each other. The Junior Neighbourhood Wardens regularly visit Fairfax Court – a sheltered housing scheme– to spend time with the older residents. Recent intergenerational activities have included a cookery workshop, a keep fit session and an Easter egg hunt. In May there will be a visit from a guide dog and handler with a presentation on the work of Guide Dogs UK enabling both young and old to find out more about the important work of a guide dog.

On Sunday 24 April, our Junior Neighbourhood Wardens will be manning a water station at the APB Southampton Marathon and cheering on runners and the charities they support.

During the Easter school holidays the Junior Wardens will be supporting the weekly coffee mornings that take place on Thursday mornings at Weston Adventure playground. The coffee mornings are free for everyone, and during term time parents can bring children under 5 to stay and play. Different activities take place every week ranging from cookery to arts and crafts.

Join in the fun!

Becoming a Junior Neighbourhood Warden is a great way to make new friends, grow in confidence, learn new things, and have lots of fun – all while being a positive role model in the local community. And older children can also get involved too as 13-18 year olds can go onto to become Team Leaders.

Find out more about getting involved with Junior Neighbourhood Wardens here or telephone 07766 508 604 or send us an email.
