Sea City Museum solar panels

The Sea City Museum solar panels were installed February 2023 and formed part of the Energy Team and Properties Corporate Assets Decarbonisation Scheme (CADS) which aims to address our Net Zero by 2030 aspirations.

The installed solar panels are just over 55 kilowatt peak (kWp) and will generate about 51,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity for Sea City Museum and Southampton City Council (SCC) per year. This will reduce SCC emissions by just under 10 tonnes per year (9.9 tonnes) which is enough electricity to supply electricity to 17 homes for a year.

Based on the council's current price for electricity, the Solar photovoltaic Array will save about £14,800 per year and will pay itself back in 5.3 years.
