I am delighted Southampton are working with UNICEF UK on the Child Friendly Cities Initiative. I feel extremely privileged to be part of the council’s coordinating team being able to drive our goals and passion to become a Child Friendly Southampton.

For the past 8 years I have worked directly with children and young people advocating for their views and ensuring they have access to meaningful participation. Southampton City Council's ambition to become a Child Friendly City aligns with my passion to involve children and young people in the important work we do, whilst ensuring they are aware of and have access to their rights, allowing them to speak-up when they feel this isn’t happening.

We are on an exciting journey of transformation and improvement with an ambition to become the first Child Friendly City on the south coast and deliver exceptional services to children and young people. We want children and young people to be at the heart and pulse of our city.

I work council wide to increase opportunities for our city's residents - working alongside talented and passionate colleagues to achieve our goals. Southampton City Council put hearing youth voices at the heart of what we do. Involving children and young people in shaping the future of our city means we create a healthy and safe spaces for them to thrive.

Our commitment to become a Child Friendly City shows it is not just a slogan, but a cross council buy in from senior leaders to front line staff. I'm passionate about Southampton and can see positive and exciting times ahead for our children and young people.
