School Travel Policy News

We are updating our Policy for 2025-26. We would like to hear your thoughts on the proposals and any impacts or alternative suggestions you would like us to consider. Further information can be found on the School Travel Service Draft Policy 2025-2026 page.

New school year – New transport routes

The School Travel Service (STS) has been planning the routes for the new school year. The planning process takes into consideration the special needs of the children/young people along with locations of not only the child but also the passenger assistant. Therefore, the routes may have different children and passenger assistants to the previous year.

Where there have been changes, we understand time is required to embed the changes for all concerned, and we appreciate your patience.

How will your child get to school?

When choosing a school place, it is important to think about how your child, student or adult learner will travel to and from school each day. Most families organise their own home to school journey, like walking, cycling, using public transport or lift-sharing with other families.

However, we have a duty to support children, students or adult learners with their school journey, providing they meet specific criteria for this support.
