The following information is for parent carers of children requiring home to school transport.
Latest update – 19 February 2024
We have finished re-allocating all 59 routes previously operated by the taxi firm Aryvo, as we are no longer working with this taxi company. We would like to thank all the parents/carers we have been speaking to for their understanding while we have been putting the new arrangements for their child’s/children’s home to school transport in place.
Reimbursement of travel costs
If you needed to and were able to transport your own child/children to school during this period, we will refund the cost of travel. Claims should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and include the following:
- Name of child
- Name of school
- Dates when you took your child to school
- Method of transport
You must also attach a photo or scan of the receipt/ticket if you travelled by bus, taxi or train.
If you took your child to school in your own car, we will work out a mileage allowance.
If you require information about your child’s travel arrangements, please call us on 023 8083 2419, or email us at email@example.com.
Designated pickup and drop-off points
We are currently looking to pilot one or two vehicles to transport students from designated pickup and drop-off locations which are not the student’s home address. These designated pickup and drop-off locations will take into consideration:
- Students’ needs
- Distance from students’ home
- Being a safe and accessible location
- Travel time from designated pickup and drop-off location to school
Designated pickup and drop-off locations can also be bus stops.
It is anticipated that the pilot will take place in 2024. This pilot will impact a small number of students. Following the pilot, we will assess whether designated pickup and drop-off locations would also be suitable for other routes.
Special Schools and SEN Units
All parents have been notified about the transport arrangements.
Applications for SEN transport
The SEND team provide the School Travel Team with the names of SEN students that will be receiving transport. This will be arranged usually within 10 working days if possible once the School Travel Service has received the information.
If you are not sure if you have made an application for free school travel but would like to, please contact your case officer urgently.
Post-16 Colleges for SEN Students
For the School Travel Service to organise Post-16 transport we require individual timetables of the students. Please email these to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Unfortunately, we are not routinely receiving individual pupil timetables from colleges so would request that parent/carers provide these. If you have not had the timetables yet, please could you contact the college requesting these and send them to us as soon as possible.

School transport applications for mainstream schools
All applications for mainstream school transport received before 15 January 2024 have been processed, and the response distributed via letter. If your application was approved, you will receive a letter to confirm this and a bus pass will be sent directly to the school, and your child can collect their pass from the school office.
