Notice under Section 46 (1), The Environmental Protection Act 1990

Since 5 June 2017 you have been required to place household waste for collection in the receptacles (bins, bags or boxes) set out below and place them at the boundary of your property for collection before 6:30am on your designated collection day. All receptacles must be removed from the highway as soon as possible after collection and in any case no later than the end of the scheduled collection day.


Recyclable Material

Recyclable Material (paper, card, tin cans, aluminium cans, empty aerosol cans and plastic bottles) must be placed in:

Your recycling bin – please place only recyclable items loose within the bin.

Clear sacks – if the council has agreed in writing that you can have sacks instead of a bin the council will issue clear sacks that are delivered twice a year by the council and must only be presented for collection on the designated collection day.

Glass

Glass must be placed in:

Glass Recycling Banks and Communal Glass wheeled bins – for flats and houses where the council has notified you in writing that your premises are unsuitable for a box or individual wheeled bin.

Glass box or glass wheeled bin – the council will allocate individual houses with either a box or wheeled bin (at the discretion of the council) which the council will supply and empty.

Household Waste

Household Waste (residual waste that cannot be recycled as above) must be placed in:

Your general waste wheeled bin – the council will supply and empty. Please ensure you securely bag food waste as appropriate to prevent smells or vermin.

Black sacks – if the council has agreed in writing that you can have sacks instead of a bin the council will issue black sacks that are delivered twice a year by the council and must only be presented for collection on the designated collection day.

Garden Waste

Garden Waste must be placed in:

Your garden waste wheeled bin – for those that subscribe to the council’s chargeable garden waste collection scheme.

Your Local Household Waste Recycling Centre – for households who do not subscribe to the council’s chargeable green waste collection scheme, you are required to take your garden waste to your local household waste recycling centre. Do not place garden waste in your recyclable materials, glass or general waste bins or sacks.


Failure to place waste in the correct receptacle may result in your waste not being collected until it is deposited correctly. Any waste that is not collected must be placed in the correct receptacle for collection on the next scheduled collection day for your property. IMPORTANT: A fixed penalty notice of £60 can be issued if you fail, without reasonable excuse, to comply with any requirements of this Notice.
