RIFAS and Covid-19
The Project Team are doing all we can to ensure the safety of our colleagues and members of the public at this current time.
In line with current government guidelines we are working from home where possible, with project meetings being held virtually to ensure that progress continues in light of the current challenges we are all facing.
A decision has been made by the RIFAS Project Board to continue with the scheme due to the Government’s view that the work our organisations do to better protect lives and livelihoods is critical and needing to continue.
As part of our current schedule of works we will continue to engage with landowners and leaseholders and commence initial site surveys from 29 June 2020.
We understand that the current COVID-19 situation has shifted and created new priorities for everyone. In order to continue with this scheme we have considered the options very carefully and believe these works can still progress to better protect people, homes and businesses from flooding in a safe manner.
In undertaking any works we would like to reassure you that Southampton City Council, the Environment Agency and the project’s appointed consultants and contractors will follow government guidance to ensure any work completed is in a safe manner.
