Registration is necessary for most types of food business, including catering businesses run from home and mobile or temporary premises, such as stalls and vans.
If you are setting up a new food business, or taking over an existing one, in Southampton you need to register with us at least 28 days before starting to operate. If you have multiple premises they must all be registered.
Registering is free of charge. You will need a MySouthampton account to complete the online form – you will be asked to sign up or log in when registering.
The form will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will ask you questions about the name and address of your business and some details about you.
Ensure you have all necessary information to hand as there is no facility to save the form part way through.
Once registered, you will need to notify us if there is a change of ownership or alteration to the nature of the business.
