Meet our new Director of Housing, Jamie Brenchley

We have a new face at the helm of council housing in Southampton – Jamie Brenchley. Jamie has recently taken up the role of Director of Housing, succeeding Steve Smith who many readers will know has taken well-earned retirement.

Jamie brings with him many years of experience working in the housing sector, and he is looking forward to getting to know staff, tenants, and leaseholders in Southampton.

Jamie told us: “I know there is already some excellent work happening across the Directorate and I am really looking forward to engaging with staff and residents to understand how we can make our best better. Steve’s commitment to putting residents at the heart of the housing service is a lasting legacy that I am keen to continue and develop, and I will be meeting with as many local residents as possible to discover how we can work together to make a positive difference to our communities and to the lives of our residents.”

Jamie was previously Head of Housing at Isle of Wight Council, and before that he managed homelessness services at the Salvation Army.

Jamie continued: “My work has always been centred around improving outcomes for people, trying to provide the foundations and support that helps people reach their full potential. I’m so excited to begin my new role as Director of Housing and am very much looking forward to working alongside residents and colleagues to ensure we provide the best possible service for all citizens of Southampton.”
