New Neighbourhood Wardens get to work

Last month we welcomed several new Neighbourhood Wardens to join our team.

The wardens work in council areas across the city and together they help to make our local communities cleaner and safer places to live.

If you see your local Neighbourhood Warden out and about in your neighbourhood, please stop and say hello and let them know if you have any ideas for improvements or areas of concern you would like them to look at.

As well as cleaning, repairing and keeping our neighbourhoods spick and span, our Neighbourhood Wardens often get involved in community projects requested by local residents.

Recently, the team in Swaythling have rolled up their sleeves to help residents in Leaside Way improve their community garden. The local Neighbourhood Wardens sprang into action when members of the Bizzie Bees gardening club asked for help in transforming their outdoor space. The Wardens built and installed a bench, pergola, and a bug house to attract wildlife to the garden.

Chair of the gardening club, Vicky-Lee, says: “We are really grateful to the Neighbourhood Wardens and for the support we have received from the Local Housing Office and the Decent Neighbourhoods programme. The garden has made a huge difference to local residents and provides us with a great space to get together which is very important for people with no garden of their own.”

If you have a project you would like to suggest for the Neighbourhood Wardens to work on please contact your Local Housing Office.
