Repairs service back up and running

As lockdown restrictions ease, we have started the phased reopening of several housing services, including the repairs service.

This means that if you need a repair at home you can now report it online. If you have an emergency repair call 023 8083 3006.

During the lockdown we were only able to carry out emergency repairs, but as the service is back in operation you can now request any kind of repair job including non-essential, urgent and emergency works.

It is still essential that we ensure the safety of both tenants and staff, so if you request a repair please tell us if you or anyone living in your home:

  • Is currently self-isolating
  • Has been diagnosed by a doctor as having coronavirus
  • Has a temperature of 37.8 degrees or more, a new continuous cough, or shortness of breath

When a member of staff visits your home to carry out a repair, please remember social distancing rules and try to keep at least two metres (approximately three steps) away from the tradesperson. You may be asked to wait in another room and leave doors and windows open while the work is completed. This will ensure social distancing can be maintained, there is good ventilation in the property and contact with door handles is minimised.

Please note that if you or anyone in your home is shielding or isolating due to COVID-19, we will only be able to carry out emergency or urgent repair work. This is in order to keep you and our staff safe.

We are working hard to reinstate the repairs service and get to everyone as quickly as possible, but as there is a backlog of work that built up during the lockdown, unfortunately some delays may be unavoidable. We appreciate your patience and kindly ask that you treat our staff respectfully while they are in your home.

Another service that has recently been resumed is the letting of council homes. Homebid re-opened on Friday 5 June 2020 which means that registered users can once again bid for properties online in the usual way.
