In 2020, 4% of Southampton school pupils had been identified as having social, emotional or mental health needs higher than the England average of 2.7%.

Hospital admissions for mental health conditions for young people under the age of 18 in Southampton is 115.8 pupils per 100,000, which is still significantly higher than the England average of 87.5 per 100,000.

Children and Young People’s mental health is a concern in Southampton as it is estimated that 11.7% of 11-19-year olds have a mental health condition, which is becoming more prevalent.
