Get Active subscription

Residents living within the council boundary, who are in receipt of some benefits, are entitled to discounted activities with a Get Active subscription on their SmartCities card. The discount applies during off-peak times in participating leisure venues in Southampton.

The following types of benefits are entitled to a Get Active subscription. If you wish to apply, the following evidence is needed:

  • Housing Benefits – notification letter on headed paper
  • Income Support or Guarantee Pension Credit – correspondence from Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) or Job Centre
  • Council Tax main benefit – Council Tax bill or letter from Council Tax benefit
  • Job Seekers Income Based – award letter, stamped letter from Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) or Job Centre
  • Universal Credit – correspondence from Job Centre
  • Incapacity Benefit or Employment and Support Allowance – correspondence from DWP or Job Centre
  • Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, or Attendance Allowance – correspondence from DWP
  • Unwaged spouse or partner – proof of relationship with the applicant receiving benefit e.g. marriage certificate, official documentation
  • Unwaged child under 18 – proof of relationship with the applicant receiving benefit e.g. birth certificate

Evidence of qualification for the Get Active subscription is required every 12 months.

  • For new applications, proof of address on a document
