Apply or renew in person

All permits, parking cards, and City Centre Season tickets can be issued in person at Gateway.

If you do not wish to make an appointment, you can visit Gateway and wait in the queue. However, priority is given to customers with an appointment. At busy times you may be required to wait.

Before you apply

You will need:

You will also need your reminder letter for renewals.

For prepaid parking cards and season tickets, please see evidence as required on the forms.

If you are unsure of what type of proofs to provide, see the types of documents we accept.

Remember: If you have recently purchased a new vehicle, or the V5 (V5C) is currently being processed with DVLA, you will only be able to apply for a Temporary Resident’s Parking Permit until you receive the vehicle's new V5C from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

What happens after I apply?

We aim to process your application within two working days of your request. Once we have processed your application, you should receive your permit in the post within seven working days.

If we ask you for more information, you need to respond within three months or your application will be closed and you will not be refunded.

How do I use my parking permit?

You will only be able to park in the zone shown on your permit. You can check your zone boundary and restriction times using the zone map.

Check the roadside plates when you park to check when restrictions are in force.

A residents’ parking permit only applies to the vehicle whose registration number appears on that permit.
