Driver assessments can be in an auto or manual

Firstly I wish to apologise as the webpages on this matter were not correctly updated. The webpages were advising driver assessments would have to be in a vehicle with a manual gearbox. This should have been changed on 12 November 2018 as assessments from this date could be in either a manual or automatic vehicle.

To clarify the position, driver assessment can be undertaken in a car that has either a manual or automatic gearbox. However you may only drive a car with a manual gearbox if you are licensed to do so by DVLA. The examiner will need to see your authorisation to drive the class of vehicle prior to commencing the assessment. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused.
