Burials in Southampton cemeteries
For a burial you may want to consider one of the five peaceful cemeteries we manage in the city (listed below) – all of which are open every day of the year and are easily accessible by public transport.
How do I arrange a burial?
You can arrange your burial direct with us or through your funeral director.
What days do burials take place?
It is important to note that no burials can take place on Saturdays, Sundays or bank/public holidays.
How many people can be buried in one grave?
Graves can usually be dug for either a single or double interment. However, we may be able to dig for interment of up to four people.
The cemeteries are managed in accordance with the Local Authorities’ Cemeteries Order 1977 (LACO). As the Burial Authority we are responsible for maintaining statutory burial registers and grave plans, establishing rules and regulations relating to the management of the cemeteries and the memorials permitted with them, and setting the fees for burials and memorials.
